Undergraduate students are divided into two classifications.  Lower division students are those with 68 or fewer hours earned (including transfer hours); upper division students have 68 or more hours.

In State/Out of State

Students classified as Ohio residents for tuition purposes receive the benefit of a state-supported education, funded primarily by the taxpayers of Ohio. Initial residency classifications are determined at the time a student is admitted to Miami University.

Any student classified as a nonresident of the state of Ohio for tuition purposes who feels he/she qualifies according to the Ohio Board of Regents (OBOR) Residency Rules may apply for residency status by submitting an Application for Resident Classification for Tuition Purposes along with supporting documentation.

Learn more about Ohio residency from Miami’s Office of the Registrar.
